Weather Mtaani is a community-based organization based in Kibera, Nairobi, one of the largest informal settlements in Kenya. The organization works closely with the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) under the DARAJA Early Warning Project, aiming to make weather and climate information more accessible and actionable for vulnerable urban communities. 

With a network of 24 trained local leaders from different villages within Kibera, Weather Mtaanitranslates official weather forecasts from KMD into local languages and formats that are easy for residents to understand. These forecasts are shared along with tailored advice to help communities prepare for and respond to extreme weather events such as floods, heatwaves, and heavy rainfall.
